My Boudoir Experience Was About Celebration, Not Building Confidence

A common misconception around Boudoir is that it is only for people who need to build their confidence. Of course, Boudoir is an incredibly powerful way to connect with self-belief and an internal feeling of power. However, it is only one reason - from many - that people book!

Another very common reason that our Divas book an experience with us is to celebrate. Maybe they are celebrating a birthday, or an event, or - often - just learning to take time to celebrate themselves. We grow so much in life, and yet we so rarely take the time to reflect on how far we have come. We find it so much easier to celebrate other people and their achievements, but find it much trickier when it comes to giving ourselves the same kindness. It can be easy to think we need only act when times are bad, when actually there is such joy in revelling when you are feeling good!

Boudoir is a way to take that time for yourself and to create something in the process that will always capture and honour that feeling of accomplishment, or a special time in your life!

We have written this blog today with the gorgeous Diva, Moira who came to us NOT to build confidence, but to celebrate both the time of her life (she was getting married!!) and the fearless woman she had become.

We hope you enjoy reading her story, and that it invites you to also consider how you could acknowledge your achievements and the person you have become! It could be something small, or it could be ticking something off the Bucket List like a Boudoir experience, but whatever it is - we urge you to go do it!

What is your name and how old are you?

I’m Moira and I’m 27 years old.

You said that for you this experience wasn’t about building confidence, but a celebration. Can you tell us more?

I’ve done two Boudoir shoots, one in October 2023 and the other in April 2024. In my October shoot, I was recently married so I was celebrating the new chapter in my life. In April 2024, I was celebrating the confidence I’d built in and after my October shoot, and my bravery in a personal matter. I was celebrating the fearless woman I had shown myself to be.

Confidence is a big thing - in fact it is everything. How has this boudoir experience elevated who you are in different areas of your life - for example has this confidence affected your relationship or your career?

Doing boudoir has really elevated my confidence in my career. I teach, so you need to have some confidence to stand in front of 30 teenagers, but boudoir has massively elevated how I feel about myself and how others interact with me in a really positive way. It’s also impacted my relationship - my husband is in awe of the woman who’s emerged from boudoir.

If this experience helped you find part of you that you believe you had lost or maybe felt you had to hide away, which part of you do you believe you have been able to rediscover because of your boudoir experience with us?

In my first shoot, I was trying to discover the vixen in me, but in the most recent shoot, I was trying to ‘act my age’ and reconnect with my youth and more playful sides.

What stood out or surprised you about this experience?

I surprise myself with just how spontaneous I can be. Jesse asked if I wanted to experiment with some water shots, the word yes was out of my mouth so quickly. I find something new about myself every time I visit.

Tell us - what was the moment you saw your photos for the first time like?

When I first saw my photos, Beyoncé was singing and I was stunned speechless. I’d never really liked seeing myself in pictures, always picking at bits of myself I didn’t like. This was not the case in the design room with Jess, I was in awe of the woman in the photos on the screen.

Are you excited to receive your artwork? Where is it going and why?

I’ve got some pending artwork, but I have an album that’s going to be a surprise for my husband on our first anniversary, some wall art that is going to go over our bed, so it can be seen as we get ready for work or bed.

I have just received my treasure box! I love my artwork - it feels incredible to have a reminder in my house of who I want to be - and should be - for the days I don’t feel my best

Do you have any last messaged you’d like to add?

I want to say a massive thank you to everyone at Divine Divas for helping me to reclaim myself.
