How Does a Divine Divas Experience Work, From Beginning to End?
Something you’ve probably heard us say a lot is that we’re not just a photoshoot. We know that you are going to look incredible in your photos, which means we can spend a lot of our energy and tailor a lot of the experience around something more long-term. Every woman who comes to us has their own reason for wanting to come to us, whether it be to connect with themselves after a long time putting themselves at the bottom of the list, to learn how to love their body or to celebrate where they are at in their life. We don’t want that feeling of confidence to last just one day, we want the experience to light a spark that burns for years after, and for that feeling to have far-reaching positive consequences.
And what brings us great joy is that we know our experiences do do that. Take Esme for example, who came in a month ago and wrote this for her testimonial:
"I could not be more grateful for this experience. This experience has changed my life. It's given me the opportunity to look at myself through a different lens and made me appreciate my body. I could go on and talk about this for hours but I honestly just want to say thank you to everyone involved in the most liberating bucket list experience ever. I could not have asked for more, simply life changing."
Or Catherine who came to us to learn to love her body, and ended up feeling so transformed that not only did she don a bikini on holiday after 27 years refusing to do so but also felt empowered enough to train to become a personal trainer!
And the reason our experiences can catalyse genuine transformation is because of the time and care we have taken into developing how we work. We know a lot of you have questions about our approach and what is included, so we thought we’d take the time to talk you through it!
1.Discovery Calls
It all starts with your discovery calls, which are an absolutely fundamental part of the experience. They are the phone calls we have preceding your experience in which we ask you a set of questions and, more importantly, listen to you as we find out about who you are and what you are looking to gain for the experience. They can be emotional and are deeply reflective - and we do them because not only does it mean we genuinely get to know you and you can form a connection with us (which definitely helps soothe the nerves) but also, crucially, because it offers you the chance to explore your relationship with confidence. The aim of the calls is to help grow your sense of personal power and to help you feel celebrated and connected with yourself. They’re also a space where we can assist, or challenge you, in starting to rewire any potentially negative perceptions you have around yourself. We work together to understand a vision of what reminder you’d like to create for yourself, and where in your home you’d most love to display that feeling. Using this, you then come to gain a sense of what artwork you are likely to be drawn to and why. The phone calls are also a great chance for you to ask any questions!
We have two calls with yourself (one of which we will discuss hair and make up preferences, as well as outfits) and another with a partner or a best friend so we can further develop our sense of who you are by learning about you through the eyes of a loved one. A few days prior to you coming in, you will also have a phone consultation with your photographer so you can say hello to them and talk about anything style related!
(P.S If you have any burning curiosities about styling, read this blog for outfits and this blog for props.)
On The Day
2. Tour
When you arrive on the day, your Design Consultant will greet you! This is where you’ll also meet the entire team and see the studio for the first time. At this point, you should have a sense of where you’d love to place your artwork in your home but the tour, and seeing the artwork in real life, may help clarify a few decisions for you! It will give you a sense of sizing too so you can see what works for the space you have in mind. Important to note though, nothing needs to be locked in! It’s just to give the photographer a sense of what you’d love to end up with so that they can shoot with that in mind. This is a great time to ask any questions about artwork too!
3. Your talk with your photographer
Following on from this, you’ll then sit down and meet your photographer in person! In this conversation, they’ll make sure they have a firm sense of what style you love (i.e does sexiness mean something quite raunchy or would you prefer a black and white, more ‘elegant’ style), as well as any poses you’re drawn to. You will discuss this in your phone call with them as well of course, but your ideas may have grown since then so this is your chance to talk to them. This is also a great time to voice any insecurities you may have so they can be mindful of that. They’d also love for you to bring any creative thoughts or ideas you have. Don’t worry if nothing springs to mind because they’re always happy to take the lead.
4. Hair styling and makeover!
The next part of your day is your makeover. I think we’ve all had a moment where someone else does your make-up and you see a stranger looking back at you in the mirror, but this is nothing like that! You’re make up artist can help you see yourself in a different light, but this is about celebrating who you are.
It’s where you can just chill out, enjoy being pampered, maybe learn some new make-up techniques and be made to feel like a million dollars.
5. Your Photoshoot
After your makeover, you’ll go straight into your photoshoot. I know this can be a nerve-wracking moment for a lot of Divas and we know that you may be worried about outfit choice or any insecurities around your body. A lot of women think they’re going to be the exception to the rule, that they will be the ONE woman who doesn’t look good. Let me tell you now, this will NOT happen. You will surprise yourself so much with how quickly you feel at ease with your photographer and with how much you push yourself out of your comfort zone! You won’t believe how quickly it goes either.
The photoshoot is fully guided so you do not need to know how to pose. Your photographer is there to help you (and make you laugh a fair bit!) during the experience.
The photos you see have not been retouched and, although we really do urge you to embrace yourself exactly as you are, if you do want acne or wrinkles reduced then we can do that for you and we understand!
6. An hour gap…
Consider this your intermission! After your photoshoot, there is an hour’s gap in which we are shortlisting your photos. You are more than welcome to stay in the studio and we’ll make sure your hot drink (or prosecco) is topped up! Or you’re more than welcome to nip out for an hour. There is a Costa or M&S down the road, and if you fancy a proper meal out then the Locksbrook is just round the corner too. Perfect for if you’re meeting your partner or friend during the hour’s gap!
7. Your Design Consultation
A lot of people say they are actually more nervous for this part then the photoshoot - and understandably so! It’s your big moment; the moment you see your photos for the first time. It’s a very powerful moment. You will be buzzing after your photoshoot, but this is where those positive beliefs will really be cemented. There is a magic in the air of that room, and even we’re not sure what it is, but it helps you see yourself objectively and with love and compassion.
This is also where everything comes together, so you’ll select the photos that resonate with you the most and then, together, we can create the artwork of your dreams!
Different people go for different things but it’s not uncommon for a lot of Divas to choose something for the wall and then an album or a treasure box. You can choose from wall collections (for those statement places, like above the bed or on a bigger plain wall) or single pieces! Whatever you go for, the main focus will be on creating something that makes you feel amazing every time you see it - and for years to come.
In some ways, this is it! This is the end of your experience, but, not to sound cheesy, this is often just the beginning for a lot of people. You’ll be walking away with a new, or renewed, sense of power and confidence - and that can take you to amazing new places, in your job, in your relationship, in anywhere you want it to take you…
Important to note!
Every experience is different because we tailor it to you and your needs. For example, if you struggle with health issues and you need to break up the day a little bit that’s totally fine! I just hope you find this blog useful to give you a sense of how we work and how we differ from other studios.
FAQ’s
How much does the Divine Divas experience cost?
Your experience starts, not in the studio, but with our Discovery Calls on the phone where we find out what empowers you and what makes you shine - because that's what we want to capture. In our calls, you'll think about where in your home would be the most powerful place to display your artwork. This will enable us to give you a more accurate sense of what you may spend.
Your half-day Luxury Boudoir Experience costs £200 including your discovery calls, professional hair styling and makeup, a fully guided photo shoot, access to all of our gorgeous props, and your Design Consultation where an expert will be with you to help you choose the artworks that you love. There will be prosecco on hand as well! Products range from £800 to £4,500. Payment plans and saving plans are available. The payment plans are interest free.
How long does it take to receive my artwork?
If you pay everything on the day, it takes 3-5 weeks to receive your artwork. You can choose whether to come to the studio to collect (which we always love because we get to see you again!) or we can deliver it straight to you. If you spread your payments, you will receive your artwork after you have finished paying.
What should I bring?
We photograph 2-3 different looks – including nude or topless depending on your level of comfort. We encourage you to bring in any jewellery, accessories or props that mean something to you or your loved one. We’ve had Divas in the past bring in everything from guitars to bottles of wine! We also have some beautiful props here, varying from handcuffs and riding crops (for the fifty shades type!) to gorgeous red satin robes and pearls, which you are, of course, free to use.
Do I need to bring my own lingerie or props?
Yes, we don’t provide any underwear. We do however have some beautiful props like robes and fabrics - but it’s always best if props and accessories are personal to you.
Props are really effective in telling your story and can help with the posing so bring something that you or your partner enjoy.
Do I have to wear lingerie?
No you’re more than welcome to wear anything that shows off your style! If you’d rather do something a bit different, we can talk about that during your Discovery Calls. You’re also more than welcome to go nude if you’d like to! Your photographs will always be subtle and artistic.
Where is the studio located? Is there parking?
Our luxury studio is in a beautifully restored old Methodist church in Bath at High Street Twerton, Bath, BA2 1BZ . We also have a car park right outside!
Can I bring my partner?
Of course! You can bring a friend or a partner. We just ask that we get to briefly know them with a short phone call before they come in.
